GAY24 Film Club is extremely proud to be presenting the Australian premiere of CECE’S INTERLUTE, Tee Park's achingly funny meditation on what it means to be a woman and a mother.

When wannabe documentarian Sophie Anne Emerson sees a viral video of a young trans woman named Cece who is claiming to be pregnant, she thinks she has found the perfect subject for her next film. While the pregnancy turns out to be legitimate, Cece proves to be a very different subject than Sophie-Anne anticipated. As they spend the next several months together, Cece struggles to balance her life as an LA party girl and her impending motherhood, while Sophie-Anne struggles to maintain objectivity as a filmmaker.

As with the very best mockumentary filmmaking, CECE'S INTERLUDE uses its exaggerated hyper-real form to probe the uncomfortable underbelly of social formations - here, transness, motherhood and femininity, and the many ways we build each other up, let each other down, and the structures that hold us there.

Featuring laugh-out-loud performances from director and writer Tee Park as Cece, and Casey Jane Ellison as Sophie Anne, alongside an ensemble cast featuring the likes of underground pop star Deevious and cult filmmaker Eugene Kotlyarenko, CECE'S INTERLUDE is a remarkable debut and the latest in a line of micro-budget underground trans feature films rewriting the rules of independent cinema.
