To celebrate the release of her new album The Gem, Julia Jacklin returns to the place that gave the record its name for three very special, intimate shows.

Recorded above the pub in Collingwood and released September 25 via 4AD, each show will feature two sets: a set of covers followed by a set of originals, with Jacob Diamond, Jennifer Aslett, Jess Ellwood and Rob Muinos.

An uneasy, surreal and risky collection of songs about loneliness, digital fantasies and modern disconnection. ‘Internet Users’ explores the uneasy similarity between comfort and isolation in an increasingly online world. Moving between hypnotic guitars, darker post-punk rhythms, dreamy textures and warped electronic sounds, the EP is an intensely personal and deliberately strange record — balancing emotional directness with unease, absurdity and a willingness to commit to the dark inner world of its authors.

After a fairly horrific shoulder dislocation forced Grace Robinson to cancel her debut single launch earlier in July, she’s finally back on stage with three singles to celebrate, a debut album on the horizon, and (hopefully) two functioning arms.

In a strange twist of fate, Grace and support act Tali have both recently recovered from shoulder dislocations, making this perhaps the most medically specific lineup Naarm has ever seen… They’ll be sharing a bill AND a mutual understanding of shoulder-related trauma at everyone's favourite afternoon pub.

Grace Robinson will be performing in full band formation, bringing her soaring vocals, big guitars and even bigger feelings to a sunny afternoon comeback show. And after months of rehab, she’s very excited to be back doing the thing she knows best: making noise and oversharing.

"Antipodean swamp rock band FÄHM are travelling south for the first time ever. The Newcastle-based five-piece are coming to The Gem Bar on Saturday, October 17th - playing songs off their debut album Ä (out now through Hiss & Crackle Records).

What started as a recording project in the back of a record store has evolved into a fully-fledged band; an impressive live force featuring members of The Howlin’ Rats, Paper Thin, Huckleberry & The Devil’s Dandruff, The Outliers, and The Not Nots. FÄHM made their live debut at West Best Bloc Fest, with footage being used on NBN News. Since then, the band has played the iconic Gum Ball, and opened for the likes of Dust, Kim Salmon, and Bob Log III.

Joining them at The Gem Bar are local two-piece garage blues outfit The Cigarillos, and cowpunk partners-in-crime Crank Williams & Patsy Decline.

Naarm-based singer-songwriter Hannah Potter’s recent debut singles ‘Snow Day’ and

‘Judith’s House’ garnered local acclaim for their nuance, maturity and raw haunting power.

A self-directed, independent artist dedicated to authenticity, Potter’s work is punk at its core

with elements of trip-hop, blues, post-rock and eerie dark Irish folk.

Equally tender and confrontational, Potter skilfully handles themes of loss, connection and rediscovery, all while

guiding audiences through the dark with warmth and humour. Never a dry eye is in the room

when this wee banshee starts to sing.

Prepare to be floored by two of the highest-ranking rejects our fair city has to offer, all under

STEVE TURNER AND MORE OF HIS BAD IDEAS

Steve Turner is no stranger to fans of Grunge music.

He was the guitarist of seminal Seattle band Green River but best known as a

founding member of Grunge heavyweights Mudhoney who exploded onto the scene

in 1988 pre-dating Nirvana and the genre itself.

As Mudhoney returns to Australia this October, Steve uses the band’s only day off to

play a side show of his solo material.

Miles away from the distorted-fuzz drenched sound of his beloved Mudhoney, Steve

Turner and MORE of his Bad Ideas is more in line with the No Depression

movement of the 1990’s which provided a platform for bands like Wilco, Son Volt and

Whiskeytown earlier pioneered by the likes of Gram Parsons and the Flying Burrito

Brothers.

Macrocarpa is a trans - Tasmanic alternative avant guard post rock movement spearheaded by songwriter Sam Bamberry and consisting of electric guitars, bass drums and cello. The band formed at the start of 2026 and has been playing shows to a steadily growing audience across Melbourne/naarm since.

Following a 6 week tour of the US, LaDell will be backed by his band and joined by roots songwriter extraordinaire romaan and the velvet voiced Shantael Raphael for a night of rich, soothing sounds.

Raised in a rural seaside village in the South of Aotearoa/New Zealand by bohemian American immigrants, Oscar grew up nurturing a love of old music & fantasy books while earning pocket money as a farmhand. A second generation musician, LaDell’s early life was soundtracked by Blues & Soul albums from artists like Curtis Mayfield, Muddy Waters, Bonnie Raitt & Sam Cooke. The results of this musical diet are immediately evident in his work. Inspired by musical traditions of resistance, LaDell’s music is deeply evocative in its oscillation between the personal and political.
