Prelude to Agony brings together some of Sydney’s finest purveyors of extreme music alongside an exclusive Australian performance from New Zealand’s longest running death/grind act – Malevolence.

Formed in 1992, this rare Australian show marks the first time they have made it back over the ditch since 2008. After hundreds of shows in their home country, alongside a slew of releases over the past 3 decades, the band re-emerged in early 2025 as a brutal bass-driven force of destruction – do not miss the opportunity to have your head pounded into dust by their sheer grinding brutality!

Rounding out the bill are filthy death merchants Horrisonous, sludgy death/doomers Reekmind & sludgy newcomers Arterial Wound.

_tonepoem presents live works of noise, ambient, and drone music. Layering field recordings, harmonics, and resonant frequencies, each *performance unfolds gradually, inviting audiences into a shared space of sustained listening where subtle changes become the focus.

Singing Stones featuring _tonepoem

White Lies is a monthly short story reading night hosted at the Petersham Bowling Club. Welcoming straight up short stories, tableaus, narrative poems, personal essays and excerpts from longer projects.

There will be at most 8 readers separated by a break. Stories will be at most 6 minutes each.

Stories starting between 7:00 and 7:30!

White Lies: Short Story Readings

In December 2025, David McCormack (Custard, Polaroids, Bandit in Bluey) was doing his annual DAVO Xmas spectacular in Brisbane. This time he decided to recruit Adele Pickvance (GoBetweens, Chandeliers) on bass and Nick Naughton (Biro, Anchors) on drums. This combo proved to be magic and David McCormack’s TRS80 was born. 

Cut to January 2026, the band convened at Incremental Studios in Ashgrove to drink beer and bash out 6 songs in 4 hours. David McCormack’s TRS80

Our Friends Electric brings the best of the best of electronic DIY to Sydney for an all day takeover of Petersham Bowling Club. With artists coming from all over the country, the event will host club-like sets in the downstairs dungeon and range from ambient to dance up in the open upstairs area. With DJs giving space to enter, eat and close out - the event will run from 1pm until 11pm.

Our Friends Electric was created by Grace Stevenson (REBEL YELL) as a zine to explore DIY electronic music making, writing and performing. It’s purpose to give the tools to those wanting to get involved to start making their own music and for an inspiring and entertaining read for musicians within the community.

Our Friends Electric on September 19 brings together long-time legends of the scene Scraps, Vacuum, Horse Macgyver, Andrew George and California Girls and welcomes new formations like Close Contact, Astrid and A Romano. Rare appearances from Elmo Aoyama and Cottage Hag join the first Sydney performance for Jason Boltex.

Debut DJ sets from Day Job DJs, Pattys Toybox b2b Blossom Legacy and Sydney’s favourite band 2 djs on special occasions, Perfect Actress. Tarot readings by Lips Network will be set up and available to pre-book or find a time on the day.

Electronic DIY music has mostly found themselves on mixed bills - as the ambient opener, dance relief on a punk show or in the front bar of some random pub for a small guarantee. It feels now, at a time where DJs are often our go to dance events, that electronic DIY music needs a day dedicated to it, to showcase the world in which we operate.

Our Friends Electric is a fully self-funded passion project and it brings so much joy to present this event on September 19th at Petersham Bowling Club with an absolutely gorgeous, hand drawn poster by Pattys Toybox.

Hosted by renowned interviewer and curator **Michaela Kalowski** with book sales and signings at the door.

**Sophie Crosby** is at her core a storyteller, whose music weaves together raw emotion and lyrical depth with a folk, jazz, country, funk fusion (if you HAD to give it a genre). With a strong foundation in songwriting, she draws inspiration from the traditions of balladry ,crafting songs that speak to the human experience with honesty and soul.

Known for her evocative storytelling, heartfelt performances and just good chat, Sophie has a knack for turning everyday moments into poetic narratives. Whether performing original ballads or reimagining popular songs, she invites listeners into an intimate world where every lyric matters and becomes deeply personal.
