Brokenchord is the project of Ernestas Kausylas, based in Vilnius. Improvisation, krautrock, post-punk, heavy & hypnotic.

**Six years of Music in Exile! **And how time has flown by, blossoming from humble record label beginnings into everything we are today. We’ve made records, put on endless shows, designed cute merch, released many 100s of songs, become a registered charity, and have run 3 cohorts of our artist development program; all with the aim of coming together to celebrate cultural diversity and migratory stories across so-called Australia.

So come together with us on **Friday** **October 2nd** at **The Grace Darling Hotel** to celebrate 6 years in true Music In Exile fashion, with a gorgeous evening of collaborative sounds, joined by friends both old and new. Live acts upstairs in the bandroom, DJs in the main bar, a special new merch item, and a pandan birthday cake to mark the occasion. We can’t wait to celebrate with you!

Music in Exile turns 6!

This October Nipaluna favourites raspberry terrapin are finally crossing the Bass Straight! 

raspberry terrapin is a collective centred around blending ambient, dreamy soundscapes with folk-inspired songwriting. The band has a fluid lineup, and plays with a range of local musicians, and friends. Their music features intimate 3-part harmonies, accompanied by rich, dynamic guitar parts, and accompanying instrumentalists. 

Joining them are friends Cold Hands Warm Heart! Bark. Branches. Stones. Clay. Cold Hands Warm Heart is a Narrm-based collective of musicians who seek to pay homage to nature by evoking it through experimental soundscapes. A fallen tree, teeming with life. The swell of a river, after rain. This is music that draws attention to deep time by inviting deep listening.

And the noisey 3 piece Linen, who vary between both improvised and singer-songwriter conventions, within the post-punk style, influenced primarily by Pj Harvey and the 80s darkness of the Cure.

The Dream Flavour Band tape launch W/ AMAZON + Bolt Ons

A night of cracked open temporal torsion, hypnagogic transduction and tympanic membrane beat breaking. 4 sets that bore through the underground to subliminal centres of non-sense sensuousness. 

Utilising the Graces band room, as well as the upstairs lounge as a second stage for the evening, the night will present an oscillation of back to back sets and long form sonic experimentations from local and interstate acts renowned for dislocating sonic conventions. 

Headlining the night will be a rare visitation from notorious Brisbane/Megandjin based duo, Club Sound Witches (Matt Earle and Nicola Morton).

**Club Sound Witches** is the Brisbane/Magandjin experimental duo of Nicola Morton and Matt Earle, conjuring improvised electronic scrambling, fractured glitch and noise into immersive, unstable sound worlds. Their live sets move between a throbbing pulse, extended hums, and restless bass—music for altered attention, collapsing rooms, and the strange spaces between signal and ritual.

**Vaughan & Wedd** is another project from friends and collaborators Darcy Wedd and Liam Vaughan. Rock music expanded in a variety of ways.

A **Sasha Geyer** set is somewhat of a rare occasion - but when they happen, it’s usually an unabashed love-letter to techno. He goes for the timeless type, often laced with euphoric melodies that might make you think it’s over but only just begun. He counts his mixes for imprints like Animalia, Radiant Records and Vortex, and appearances at Absorb(ed), Breakfast Club and Eurobadalla Musical Life Review on Yuin Country as top life moments, period. 

**hvac**, the time-management nightmaric duo, Adam Gottlieb & Sarah Faraone bring their nebulous cacophony and sprawling electrically-entangled acoustic systems back to The Grace to finish and start what they never started or finished. This time with enough time to actually setup.
